Road Trips and Costume Fun

Last weekend we took a trip to Georgetown, TX to visit our best friends Lauren and Rob. It was a long 6 and a half hour drive but we finally made it around 5:30 p.m. It was exciting to see our friends as well as their new home! Lauren has done a wonderful job decorating. It looks perfect and was all festive with fall decorations. Lauren and I spent most of the night sipping on wine and catching up while the guys went out to eat on a man date. The next day we all ate at Salt Lick for some yummy BBQ. Afterwards we went shopping and I thoroughly enjoyed that! Unfortunately that evening I started feeling pretty sick to my stomach so it put quite a damper on the evening. We left the next day around noon, me still feeling yucky. On Monday I ended up taking a trip to the ER at Baptist due to insane stomach pains in my lower abdomen. All the tests checked out but my white blood cell count was pretty high, indicating an infection. The docs sent me home with antibiotics. I HATE going to the doc and I have only been in the hospital once or twice before so it was not a fun day. I spent the entire week trying to get healthy again. Finally by Friday the stomach pains were gone and I was feeling much better. Friday at work we had an employee health fair. I dressed up as Cruella De Vil and won 2nd place! :) That evening Ryan and I went to our friend Shelby's birthday. I was dressed up as Cruella and Ryan sported some devil horns, haha.

Fright Fest 2010

Last Sunday we went to Fright Fest at Frontier City. Our friend John was kind enough to get us a bunch of 1/2 price discount tickets so it made it a lot easier to go! We had the best time. Rode rides, went to the haunted house, and got to spend time with awesome friends! We had a big group: Ryan, me, John, Steph, Cristina, Di, Andrew, Tim, Justin, Amanda, Jeff, Ashlee, and Mike. Here are some pics!

A great Saturday

Today my mom, Angie, Allison and I took Daisy (the Kamermayer dog) and Zoe to the dog park in Edmond. I have never been there before so it was pretty cool. Zoe got some exercise but she was also a bit snooty, haha. She seemed more interested in the owners of the pets rather than the dogs themselves. But, she was able to run around and get some fresh air for awhile. Daisy was so funny. She had to be the alpha dog and chase the dogs on the other side of the fence. She was adorable! It was a really fun morning. Afterwards, my mama came to the house (Ryan was at drill) and hung out for a bit. It was nice hanging out with her especially since she was gone all last week camping. I cooked Ryan dinner. We had baked honey chicken, garlic mashed potatoes, and corn. All under 14 grams of fat and under 600 calories! (per serving of course haha)

We just finished watching the OU game and it was a shutout! BOOMER SOONER!

Going down memory lane......

So..... Friday evening I went back to my old high school. Yup... Good ol Deer Creek. Back in 2000 our football team won the state championship game and I was a water girl :) Oh yes, I was their secret weapon haha. It was pretty weird goin back to my old stomping grounds. It was a ten year ruinion of that game..... and it had been ten years since I had been on that field. SO weird! It was really nice seeing a lot of the football players from that year. It has been so long and it was nice catching up. Below you will find a few pics from that night.

More October Fun

So even though my plans for last weekend did not work out as I thought, it was still a good weekend.

Friday after work I was supposed to watch my friend Josh in the rowing tournament regatta thingy. Yeah, you read that right, haha. Anyways, his wife Chelsea and our friends Joey and Kari all went and I was supposed to ride with Joey and Kari but I got off work late and I was exhausted. I did not get much sleep the night before and the day was LONG due to a health fair we were hosting for the residents. Plus I just was not feeling well. So, I went home and slept instead. Of course I woke up later and was somewhat productive by cleaning and doing laundry. Other than that it was a boring night. Ryan had homework he was working on.

Saturday Ryan worked 7 to 7 and I cleaned the house and went on the hunt for some more Halloween decorations. I found a little scarecrow person and some hay, as well as some things to hang outside. And of course I picked up a few more halloween movies :)

That evening after Ryan got off work we had some people over for a scary movie night. I figured we would watch a couple, but of course only ended up watching one. I had snacks for everyone, including chips and salsa, potato chips and dip, halloween cookies and two little cakes I got from homeland. :) Plus a sandwich tray. Can you tell that I LOVE hosting?!?

Several people came over including Mike, Kavon, Shelby, Cristina, Eric, Ashley, Morgan, Megan, and Andrew. It was a lot of fun and we watched the Texas Chainsaw Massacre.

Sunday Ryan and I were supposed to go to Fright Fest at Frontier City with a group of friends. However, there was a 60% chance of rain beginning at 5 p.m. (the time we were supposed to be there) so we decided to cancel it. We did not want to spend that much money only for it to rain and the rides to shut down. So instead we slept in and had a LAZY day around the house. We seriously did a whole bunch of NOTHING but it felt good! Fright Fest has been moved to NEXT Sunday. I hope the weather cooperates! :)

I am such a good wifey!

I enjoyed cooking last Sunday so much that I decided to try it again. I used my nifty healthy cookbook once again and decided to make "Healthy Joes", a healthy twist on the good 'ol Sloppy Joes.

I used ground turkey instead of beef and surprisingly you could not tell a difference! Ingredients such as paprika, diced tomatoes, onions, bell peppers and garlic added so much flavor to the turkey. For a side dish I made potato wedges, using a bit of seasoning salt and olive oil. These too were healthier than tator tots or french fries.

Ryan LOVED it! I told him to be completely honest because it would not hurt my feelings. I need to know if he doesn't care for something I cook so I won't make it again! He said he would eat this meal once a week. I laughed and said "maybe every other week, honey" :) I am just so glad it turned out and was very flavorful. He actually went out the next day and brought home the same ingredients so I could make more! I will have to make some next week now that I have mastered the recipe.

I know sloppy joes and potato wedges are not a difficult meal to make, but hey, I am taking baby steps. Remember, this gal has never really cooked before. :) Tomorrow I am going to go through my recipe book to find some other meals I think Ryan would like so that I can cook a few times this week. I love being a wifey who cooks! haha

OU/TX Weekend

Last weekend was a blast! Ryan and I had date night that Friday evening. We went to see the movie "Devil" (yes I had to watch a scary movie since it was he first day of October). :) We both enjoyed the movie and it was nice to spend a night together doing something fun without worrying about work and school.

Saturday we had a cookout for the OU/TX game. I cleaned the whole house while Ryan made his fresh salsa and grocery shopped. We had the salsa and chips, burgers, hot dogs, baked beans, veggie tray, chips and dip, and some Halloween cookies! We had about 8 people over, watched the game, ate, and then played Rock Band! :)

It was great to see Amanda, Justin, Mike, Jeff, Ryane, Tim, Evelyn and Cristina. It was a good day with an OU victory and awesome friends.

Sunday Ryan and I went to visit his parents. This was great because I have only seen them once since we got back from Aruba. Afterwards I cooked for Ryan for the first time! I made baked pork chops and used the leftover baked beans from the day before as a side. They were pretty tasty and healthy too!

All in all it was a wonderful weekend. :)

October Bliss

Oh how I love lunch break blogging.....

OCTOBER is officially here!

This is one of my most favorite months of the year. What do I love about October? I will tell you.

1. The smell of "Fall" in the air
2. Cooler weather
3. Scary movies
4. Pumpkin carving
5. Costume Shopping
6. Halloween parties
7. Halloween decorations
8. Knowing that Thanksgiving and Christmas are just around the corner
9. Hearing fun songs on the radio such as "Monster Mash" or "Time Warp" or "Thriller"
10. Everything!

Last year was the first year Ryan really got into Halloween (at least since he was a kid). We carved pumpkins with Joe and Joy, we went to Fright Fest with Jen, Lauren, Joey, Joy and Joe, and watched scary movies together. We also attended a few Halloween Parties and dressed up as jailbirds. :) He had a blast and so did I! It was fun exposing him to my obsession with October.

Tonight I have to work til 8 or so but Ryan and I are having a date night afterwords. And of course we are going to see a scary movie called "Devil". How romantic right? It is going to be fun though! Tomorrow is the OU/TX game so we are having some people over to cookout and enjoy the game at our place. After the game it will probably be another night of Rock Band!

Sunday is special because Ryan actually has the day off of work! We are going to go hang out with his parents for awhile and then I am finally attempting to cook the man some dinner! We have cooked together a few times but I have not really had the chance (or guts) to cook him dinner all by myself. I tried to last week when I started cooking breakfast for dinner. However, Mr. Kamermayer decided to waltz right in that kitchen and help without even asking. This time will be different. I am making pork chops, garlic mashed potatoes, and some kind of veggies. He will NOT be allowed in the kitchen UNLESS I catch something on fire. :)

I am very excited for this weekend and very excited for the whole month of October! My favorite time of year is here so I seriously feel on top of the world. I might even have to get Zoe a costume... HAHAHAHA.

Cheers!
