Ryan's Going Away Party

Last Saturday I threw Ryan a surprise Going Away/Birthday party at Dan O'briens in OKC. I told Ryan that we were going to hang out with Joe and Joy (our couple crush) that evening as a last hoorah until he comes back home from overseas. Joe and Joy met us at our place around 7 and the guests of the party arrived at Dan O'briens at 8 p.m. I was SOOOO nervous that Ryan was going to somehow figure it out, especially that evening before we left.

Once we arrived in the parking lot Ryan did notice a few cars that "looked like" some of his friends' automobiles. Luckily he thought it was just a coincidence.
As soon as we walked through the doors all of our friends yelled a big "Surprise!". Ryan was FLOORED! He had no idea what was going on! All night he kept saying "How did you do this?"
It felt so good to see him surprised and overcome with joy. It was a great night and he was surrounded by people who love him and support him.

A special thanks goes out to my family (Gorsuch's and Kamermayer's) for helping make this party such a success. My mom and Angie cut and passed out cake, Matthew was my communications specialist that evening (keeping people informed of where we were and when we were arriving), Angie picked up the cakes earlier that day for me, and Allison met me earlier that afternoon to help decorate (and it looked awesome)!

And of course, thank you to all of Ryans friends for being there to support him that night. It meant the world to him (and me). We are very lucky to have such wonderful people surrounding us in life!

Our Getaway to Eureka Springs

Ryan and I spent 5 nights and 4 1/2 days in Eureka Springs at the beginning of January. It was just what we needed. It was a time for us to just focus on us and cherish our time together before he leaves. We had an amazing time there soaking up the beautiful scenery, relaxing, shopping, and just being together. I am SO glad that we decided to take this trip and I cannot wait to go back!

Fiesta Bowl Watch Party

On New Year's Day Ryan and I cleaned and grocery shopped, getting ready for our watch party for the Fiesta Bowl. Several people came over and we enjoyed yummy snacks and drinks while watching our Sooners kicked butt! It was a great night - our team won the bowl game and we got to spend a fun night with great friends. :)

Bringing in the New Year - just me and the hubby

This year New Year's Eve was quite different for me. I am used to getting all dressed up and going out on the town or to a friend's house to bring in the new year. Ryan and I both decided to keep it simple this year and stay in - just me, ryan and Zoe. Ryan put his chef-like skills to use and made us shrimp cocktail, tempura shrimp, veggies and dip, and homemade onion rings! Yeah, I guess we had a great night of clogging our arteries, haha. He also surprised me with the same champagne we had when he proposed and at our wedding. :)

I decided to get Ryan hooked on a new TV show since we finished the last season's dvd of The Office. So, we moved on to 24, starting from the beginning. Ryan was hooked instantly :) That show is insanely addicting! Of course we stopped the show to watch the OKC ball do its thing. It was such a great way to welcome the new year. I know that 2011 is going to be a challenge, but we will get through it. :)

Thank the Lord for 3 day weekends....

I am super excited to have a three day weekend coming up. I have SO much cleaning to do! It basically looks like a tornado went through our apartment. It was messy before we left for Eureka Springs, became worse when we packed, and now looks like a natural disaster hit since we have been back from our vacation.

Of course, the best part about this particular three day weekend is the fact that Ryan and I both have Monday off of work. He has drill Friday, Saturday and Sunday, so that will give me time to get the house in order. Then Monday is just for us. :)

I also look forward to this three day weekend so that I can update my blog with several posts! There is so much to type about - New Year's Eve, Fiesta Bowl Game Night, and our amazing getaway to Eureka Springs. And of course - I have lots of pictures to post! Stay tuned.....

Good Morning 2011!

On this first day of a new year I would like to say that I am ready for whatever it brings!

Ryan and I will only be able to spend a short amount of time together this year, so we have to make it really count. We are going on a getaway next week to Eureka Springs and I am so ready!

Do I have any New Years Resolutions? Sure I do.

1. Make the best out of Ryan's deployment. Truly enjoy the time we have together. Remain positive and confident while apart.

2. Get back to that good ol exercise! I have new running shoes and it is time to put them to use!

3. Pray for those who have treated me badly. I am HORRIBLE about this one! I don't ever pray for those who have really hurt me and that is very wrong of me. I need to pray for these people. Everyone needs prayer. It is time to get off my high horse and do the right thing.

4. Continue to live life to the fullest. Times will always get tough. It's life. That is what happens. But don't let tough times get in the way of appreciating the gift of life. We only have one chance on this earth so might as well appreciate it! ;)

I guess that is about it. Cheesy, I am sure. Especially the last one. But, it is very true.

I hope 2011 brings happiness to everyone out there!
