June Happenings

This month was special because Ryan got to come home for a few days! He flew in on Sunday, June 19th (Father's Day) and left Wednesday, June 22nd. It wasn't a very long trip, but hey, any time we get together is better than no time at all!

I picked Ryan up at the airport that Sunday around noon. I was excited all morning but as soon as I saw other passengers from their plane I started FREAKING out! My stomach was full of butterflies and my heart was racing. FINALLY I saw Ryan on the escalater and of course, jumped up and down like a giddy little school girl. :) It felt so good to see my husband after so long. Just talking to him on the phone is not the same as being right next to him.

That evening we went over to Ryan's parents' house for a Father's Day cookout. It was a surprised to Ryan's grandfather, as he was the only one who did not know that Ryan would be there. Ryan grilled and we ate lots of tasty food and looked at different pictures that Angie had. It has been quite awhile since all of us were together, so it was a special evening.

Afterwards we met up with Jackie,Garrett, and Jenny and Wayne (our friends who now live in Arizona but were here visiting). It was great catching up and being with friends.

Monday we went to Shiki for some yummy sushi and hibachi. Afterwards we went to see the movie Super 8. I enjoyed it, but Ryan fell asleep so I don't think he was too fond of the movie, haha.

Tuesday we spent the majority of the time getting ready for our cookout later that evening. Ryan made his own salsa and I made brownies. We had bratwurst, hamburgers, and hot dogs as well as potato salad, baked beans, chips and dip, chips and salsa, etc. People arrive around 6:30. I know it meant a lot to Ryan that so many of his friends came to celebrate with him one last time before going overseas. We all laughed, ate, and played Rock Band! (of course)

Wednesday morning was not easy. I took Ryan to the airport around noon. My parents and his mom met us up there for a little bit to say their goodbyes. When it was just Ryan and me alone, I completely lost it. Seeing him walk away in his uniform towards the terminal was extremely emotional. But, I am thankful for the time we had while he was here in Oklahoma. Ryan left for Mississippi that day and will be headed overseas this week. Thank you to all of my amazing friends and family who have and will continue to be such great support systems through this time! I don't know what I would do without u!!!!

God Bless.
